What each AI video model's release notes say changed

Runway's changelog, read for what changed and when

Thirty-one dated notes make Runway the densest single record in this register, from Gen-3 Alpha in July 2024 through Gen-4, Aleph and Gen-4.5 to Ruby in August 2026. Most of the 2024 entries are controls around the model rather than new models. As of 2026-10-13.

2What the register holds for this line

Runway keeps the fullest public record of any maker here: thirty-one dated notes from Gen-3 Alpha in July 2024 to a frame-rate conversion entry in September 2026. Their shape is worth reading before the count. The 2024 entries are mostly controls hung around a model rather than models: an image taken as a first frame on 29 July 2024, the same for a last frame a week later, extension to forty seconds on 4 September, Camera Control with direction and intensity on 1 November, and a middle keyframe between the first and the last on 19 December. Gen-4 arrived on 1 April 2025, Gen-4 References on 30 April, Aleph on 31 July, Gen-4.5 on 11 December, Aleph 2.0 in May 2026 and Ruby in August.

That is the difference between a changelog and a product page, and it is why this register exists. A model page says what a tool does today; these notes say which day each piece arrived, which is the only way to answer whether a feature existed when a clip was made.

3Where free and unlimited sit in the notes

The search behind this page asks for a free, unlimited allowance on a named model, and the register's answer is a question of vocabulary. Notes do describe access changing: Gen-4 Turbo opening to all users on 7 April 2025, Veo 3.1 Lite released as a lower-cost tier for high-volume use on 31 March 2026, Kling 2.5 Turbo gaining its standard mode on 11 November 2025. Each of those is a dated entry, and none of them promises an unlimited allowance — a changelog records what a maker changed, and an allowance is a commercial term.

Where the word does appear in this material is on plan pages, which are a different kind of document, read for a different question and dated by the day they were checked rather than by the day a note was written. A reader comparing the two should keep them apart: one is history, the other is an offer, and only the first can be quoted with a date the maker chose.

4What the threads carry for the name

The collection counted this line's name at 1,592 posts and 603 comment mentions over the window, and 1.4 per cent of the posts it read in the subreddit. The two posts quoted below are about money: one asks whether signing up feels like being short-changed, the other whether an annual plan is worth taking.

Neither is a note, and neither carries a date a register can use. What the threads do show is which question the name usually draws, and it is a billing question rather than a changelog question. The register's own record for this line stays what the maker published, in the order the maker published it.

Inclusion rule. Rows are the makers this page reads, each on its own public pages, plus one pipeline this register follows. A cell carries that maker's own wording for the point; a page that does not take the point up is written as unstated rather than read as a denial. Order. Alphabetical by maker name.

7When the other maker's notes answer better

  • The question is when a feature arrived — Thirty-one dated notes run from the first frames to frame-rate conversion, which is what answers a question about a clip made on a particular day.
  • The record has to name its own tiers — Gen-4 Turbo opening to all users is filed as an access entry, so a cheaper route is recorded where it happened rather than inferred later.
  • Two products have to be compared on the same day — Google's notes land on two changelogs on different days, and the register keeps each entry on its own line so the dates are not merged.
