When did AI video models get 4K output?

Runway offered 4K upscaling inside Gen-3 Alpha in January 2025. Generated 4K comes in 2026: Veo in January, Kling's native 4K in April, Seedance 2.0 on Higgsfield in June and Runway in July, LTX-2.5 from August, and Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash in August, where Google's note says 1080p and 4K are made by upscaling. As of 2026-09-25.

4K in a release note can mean three things: the model renders at that size, the service upscales a smaller render, or a tool converts footage after the fact. The notes do not always say which. Kling's April 2026 notes say native; Google's Gemini Omni note says upscaling; Runway's September 2026 frame-rate tool converts any video up to 4K.

Platform posts add a second date for hosted models. Seedance 2.0 lists 4K in BytePlus's model list, and Higgsfield and Runway announced 4K generation with it a month apart. Kling's O3 4K reached Runway's MCP in September 2026.
