When did AI video models reach 1080p?
The first dated 1080p note read is the Firefly Video Model's in February 2025, then Hailuo 02 in June and Veo 3's upscaling on Vertex AI in July. 1080p then reaches Luma's Ray3.14 natively in January 2026, Sora 2 Pro in March, Kling 3.0 Turbo in June and Grok Imagine 1.5 natively in July. Resolution notes say two different things: what the model renders, and what its output can be upscaled to afterwards. Veo 3's 1080p in July 2025 was an upscaling option on Vertex AI; Luma's Ray3.14 and Grok Imagine 1.5 say native.
Some 1080p comes without a date. Seedance's model list gives 1080p for 1.0 Pro as a spec, and Wan 3.0 reached Runway at 480p, 720p or 1080p in August 2026, eighteen days after Alibaba Cloud listed it. 4K has its own question page.
