Standard and pro modes in Kling and others

Two quality settings on one model, a quicker standard mode and a slower, higher-quality pro mode, often with features arriving in one mode first. As of 2026-09-25.

Kling's API notes track features mode by mode. Kling 1.5 opened in pro mode for image-to-video in November 2024 and in standard mode in December. Kling 2.1 took start and end frames in pro mode only; Kling 2.5 Turbo gained standard mode in November 2025 and first and last frames in pro mode.

Vidu's off-peak mode is another setting of this kind: the same generation, run when demand is lower, at a lower credit cost.
