Why one change can carry two dates

Google publishes Veo changes in two places, the Gemini API changelog and the Vertex AI release notes, and they do not always agree on the day. Veo 3 was generally available on Vertex AI on 29 July 2025 and in the Gemini API on 9 September. As of 2026-09-25.

Veo 3.1's video extension was in the Gemini API's October note and reached Vertex AI in December.

Both dates are true; they describe two doors to the same model. The register keeps both, so a line page may show what looks like the same change twice. The Source column and the note's own name tell them apart.

The same happens between an app and its API. Kling's native 4K appears in its API update log and its app release notes on the same day, 23 April 2026, but Kling 3.0 reached the app on 31 January and the API on 25 February.
