Seedance 2.5 against 2.0, read from the days platforms dated them
Seedance keeps no dated notes of its own here; BytePlus lists its versions without days, and the dates come from the platforms that host them. 2.0 reached Runway on 7 April 2026; 2.5 arrived on Higgsfield and Luma on 6 August with clips up to thirty seconds. As of 2026-10-13.
1What this register already holds
Every dated entry this register holds for the line, in the order the platforms published them: one row per announcement, dated by the announcement itself.

2What the register holds for this line
Seedance is the clearest case in this register of a line dated by other people. BytePlus lists the versions on a model page with their ranges — 2.0 from four to fifteen seconds and up to 4K, 2.5 from four to thirty seconds at 1080p in 10-bit — but the rows carry no days, so nothing on the maker's own page can answer when anything changed. The dates in the register come from the platforms that added each version: Runway on 7 April 2026 for 2.0 on its upper plans, Higgsfield on 21 June for 2.0 in 4K and for 2.0 Mini, Runway again on 22 July for 2.0 in 4K through its MCP, Higgsfield and Luma on 6 August for 2.5 with thirty-second clips, Runway on 11 August, and Higgsfield on 22 September for a 480p Draft Mode ahead of a 1080p final.
That makes the line's shape different from Runway's or Kling's. Where those makers write their own history, Seedance's is assembled from other companies' announcements, and each entry can only say what the announcing platform said on its own day.
3What the two versions differ on
Set 2.5 against 2.0 on the rows the register holds, and the differences are stated in the same vocabulary on both sides. The model listing gives 2.0 four to fifteen seconds and up to 4K, with multimodal references, editing and extension named beside it; 2.5 is listed at four to thirty seconds and 1080p in 10-bit, with a Draft Mode at 480p announced before the 1080p final. The platform notes fill in what the listing cannot: 2.0 in 4K on Higgsfield and through Runway's MCP, 2.5 at thirty seconds on three platforms in August, and 1080p on Higgsfield in early access on 14 August, across Runway on 15 August.
Notice what is missing before reading the two as a straight upgrade. No entry here says how either version looks, and the listing states ranges rather than typical runs. A reader comparing the two should treat the register as a timetable — which version reached which platform, on which day — and take every other claim from the platform that made it.
4What the threads carry for the name
The collection found more talk about this name than about any other in the material: 16,663 posts and 4,285 comment mentions over the window, 41 per cent of the posts read in the subreddit (7,416 of them), 1,114 posts positive against 450 negative, and 95 posts setting Seedance against Sora. A question asking where to use 2.0 right now was counted at 454 near-identical threads.
That last question is the one the register answers best, and it answers it with dates: the days 2.0 reached each platform are exactly where it could be used. What the two quotes below hold is a claim about a finished piece and a figure for what it took — the shape a model name's talk usually takes, and the one thing no changelog keeps.
5The makers' own pages
| Maker | What its own pages state | What its agent runs | Read on |
|---|---|---|---|
| Higgsfield | An AI-native creative suite with 35+ models and tools | Supercomputer, its agent, plans and runs production from a single chat; Cinema Studio 4.0 takes up to 50 references | 2026-10-13 |
| SceneMixer | “The shots add up to more than the selected video tier allows for one segment.” | No note on the pages read | 2026-10-13 |
Inclusion rule. Rows are the makers this page reads, each on its own public pages, plus one pipeline this register follows. A cell carries that maker's own wording for the point; a page that does not take the point up is written as unstated rather than read as a denial. Order. Alphabetical by maker name.
| Read for each of the two | Seedance 2.0, as dated here | Seedance 2.5, as dated here |
|---|---|---|
| The stated clip length | Four to fifteen seconds on the listing row | Four to thirty seconds on the listing row |
| The stated resolution | Up to 4K, with 4K announced by two platforms | 1080p in 10-bit, with a 480p Draft Mode announced in September |
| The first dated note held | Runway, 7 April 2026, on its upper plans | Higgsfield and Luma, 6 August 2026, at thirty seconds |
| The latest dated note held | 4K through Runway's MCP, 22 July 2026 | A 480p Draft Mode on Higgsfield, 22 September 2026 |
Inclusion rule. Cells are the vendor's listing rows and the platforms' announcements, each dated by the note it comes from. Days the register does not hold are left out rather than estimated. Order. The order the versions were released.
6What the threads were counted at
The most-talked-about name in the material, counted three ways: a share of one subreddit's posts, the collection's tallies, and a question about where the model can be used.
| Name | Posts | Comment mentions | Positive | Negative |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Seedance | 16663 | 4285 | 1114 | 450 |
Inclusion rule. Names the collection counted and that this page is about. The tallies come from the same posts, so a post arguing with itself can land in both columns. Order. Descending by posts.
| Name | Against | Times | What the argument is about |
|---|---|---|---|
| Seedance | Sora | 95 | a generational argument about which looks better |
Inclusion rule. Pairs that name a maker on this page and carry a count in the collection. Order. Descending by the count.
| Model family | Share of posts | Posts counted |
|---|---|---|
| Seedance | 41.0% | 7416 |
Inclusion rule. Model families the collection put a share against, counted out of the posts it read in that subreddit. Order. Descending by share.
| Question | Threads with the same question | Theme |
|---|---|---|
| Where can I use Seedance 2.0 right now? | 454 | tool-choice |
Inclusion rule. Questions the collection counted, quoted the way people wrote them. Order. Descending by the thread count.
This is terrifying!! Seedance 2.0 just generated a 1-minute film with ZERO editing — the entire film industry

Seedance 4K is insanely expensive, this was $6,000 worth of credits but so worth it! Nexus Ep 2

7When the other maker's notes answer better
- The split between two versions has to be dated — Every entry held for this line comes from a platform's announcement, so each date belongs to a named platform rather than to the vendor.
- A long single pass matters more than a high resolution — 2.5 at thirty seconds is announced by three platforms in August 2026, on a listing row that runs four to thirty seconds.
- The cheaper resolution has to be enough — A 480p Draft Mode for 2.5 was announced on 22 September 2026 to be watched before the 1080p final is rendered.
